The Futility of Fear
In 1933, shortly after becoming President of the United States, Franklin Delano Roosevelt boldly declared, “We have nothing to fear but fear itself!” He was wrong. As long as there are snakes, we have something else to fear! Do you know the name Eppie Lederer? I bet you do when I refer to her by her pen name, Ann Landers. The late columnist, who wrote for 47 years, purportedly received over 10,000 letters each week. She said that the single greatest theme of the correspondence dealt with the subject of fear. Fear comes from the Greek word Phobia. The dictionary...

Seeing God’s Head At The Stoplight
Sitting as the first car at a stoplight this morning, my mind was drawn to the routine that all the drivers of the turning traffic seemed to be going through. I don’t know why my eyes focused on the people and why I started thinking about what those folk might be facing today. It was obvious to me that each person was making a turn they had probably made hundreds, if not thousands, of times. There was no sense of urgency in the eyes of the people. No sense of rush, just a sense of routine. Developing a routine is...

Holocaust Remembrance Day
Holocaust Remembrance Day 2015 begins today at sundown and ends at sundown tomorrow night. It is a time for much of the world to acknowledge the genocidal acts of an anti-Christ named Adolf Hitler. Between 1933 and 1945 Hitler and his demonic litter of Nazis murdered 11 million innocent people including 1.1 million children. Six million of those victims were Jewish. Today I trust you will pause to remember the victims, the families, and all who were touched by this horrible act of depravity. Following the defeat of the Nazis and the end of WWII most thought nothing like this...

One Step Closer To Home
[Accra, Ghana] It’s Saturday afternoon and we are back in Accra. It always encourages us and, as Jeff Andler quipped, “I feel like we are close to home when we get back here.” It’s true. After 25 trips to Ghana getting back to the Capital city feels like we are almost home. I want to express my profound appreciation to Jeff, James McLean, and Andy Poe for making this project exceptional. Each performed their assigned tasks without even the hint of grumbling or complaining. Each endured hardships in travel and schedule like the professional they are. I am greatly blessed...

The Next To Last Day
[Abonse, Ghana] It’s Thursday afternoon here in Ghana as we near the end of this current ministry project. We have film crusades on Thursday and both schools and films planned for Friday. In all, we have presented the gospel in 121 different venues to an estimated audience in excess of 31,000 people. This is testimony to the wonderful preparation our national team did prior to our arrival on March 14th. The ministry has not been easy but the result has been excellent. We have rejoiced over the 21,000 individuals who have indicated personal decisions for Christ. The next to last...

Embrace The Mud
[Akuni, Ghana] It’s Wednesday as I write this blog. I awoke around 4:45 this morning to the peaceful sound of rain pelting upon the roof. (I could hear this clearly because the electricity had gone off sometime during the night.) Although it is less than ideal when the power is out, it was a blessing that it happened during the cool, early morning hours. When I finally got up and went out on the porch I found it was raining more heavily than I realized. After breakfast, our national team members met us for journeys to our individual school ministry...
