Going Behind the Wall

[Anyinam, Ghana – 22 Sept. 1400lt] – For the NASCAR fan the term, going behind the wall, is an unmistakable sign of trouble.  So it was with one of our Land Rovers this morning. We left the guesthouse in the rain and traveled out into the villages via the same rough roads as always.  After completing a two separate school ministries, while we were making our way to our third assignment, suddenly the steering of the Rover was gone.  Literally, when the driver turned the steering wheel nothing was happening.  The wheels of the vehicle were not responsive at all. ...

Rainy days, holidays, and glorious days

[Anyinam, Ghana – 21 Sept. 1330lt] – We awoke this morning to a steady and driving rain.  After breakfast our national team arrived to collect us from the guesthouse and we learned that the schools had all been closed for the day.  This unscheduled national holiday (in honor of the birthday of Ghana’s first President) caught us off guard, but we have learned that God always has a plan in place for us. After a bit of discussion we learned that Dr. Lartey and Rev. Ebenezer had been working feverishly since last night pleading with several head teachers in the...

Our ministry continues in Ghana

[Anyinam, Ghana – 20 Sept. 1607lt] – The work here continues to be a challenge.  Our travels are difficult but God’s blessings are phenomenal. Thus far, with two full days of school and dental ministry, but only one night of film crusade, we have seen 3,182 indicated, first-time decisions for Christ!  To God be all the glory. Team members Dr. James McLean and Mr. Nick Ollila are doing a wonderful job in presenting the Gospel during the film crusades.  Both men have been in Ghana before and are completely clear in the presentation of the message of Jesus Christ.  Please...

We must never give up

[Anyinam, Ghana – 18 Sept. 1515 lt] – After our first night in Anyinam we know a bit more what to expect.  The guesthouse, while filled with promise upon our arrival, has proven to be just like all the rest.   The electricity has a mind of its’ own (viz. it operates when it chooses to) and the water for showers is coming in steady drips.  All in all it is a wonderful place. The morning ministry began at 0600h and concluded around 3pm (lt).  Today the dentist treated over 30 patients and our combined evangelistic teams presented the gospel to...

Arrival in Anyinam

[Anyinam, Ghana – 18 Sept. 2155 lt] – Our team set out this afternoon for the 3.5-hour trip to the ministry area. The roads were rough and the terrain was difficult but we made it fine to our place of lodging. We will be staying at the Good Lady Guesthouse for the next two weeks. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We have running water that is sporadic at best. We had enough for a cold shower and are now getting ready for bed. Both the school projects and dental clinics begin at 0700-tomorrow morning. The projects will be conducted...

Pastor Sammy Lartey Honored

[Kpong, Ghana – 17 Sept. 1615 lt] – Today our team was blessed to be a part of a special day of thanksgiving and praise. It was a time to celebrate Pastor SammyLartey’s 63rd birthday, 27 years of ministry, and thanksgiving for the physical healing in Sammy’s body. A little more than a year ago Sammy suffered a debilitating stroke that had all of us concerned as to if he would ever be able conduct ministry again.  By God’s grace he has had a complete recovery and this has been a testimony to all, both in America and Ghana.  His...
