Countdown to Ghana

Our next ministry project is just around the corner.  In one month a team of four are scheduled to leave for West Africa.  Please begin now to pray daily for this project.  Words from our team in Ghana tell us of the intense preparation that is taking place. This preparation, both physical and spiritual, is a regular part of preparing the soil for the sowing of the Gospel seed. In the last week were we unexpectedly challenged with the need for additional equipment and repairs on the ground in Ghana.  Our man there wrote of the need for a new...

Straight From My Heart…

The Summer months are filled with opportunity.  Perhaps you have already enjoyed some time of rest and relaxation with your family and friends. Here where I live we have been blessed by rain -- lots of rain.  For people like me who enjoy playing golf this has been great because all of the area clubs are lush, plush, and green. The other day our grandson asked me “Why is it raining so much?”  I knew he was frustrated and wanted to go outside and play, but I wanted to try and teach him a valuable lesson.  Explaining that we need...

Straight From My Heart….

Both last month and this I have tried to bring attention to the Persecuted Church around the world.  While I do not want to belabor the point, it is imperative that we are constantly aware of the constant battle against the children of God globally.  The church, those who truly know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, is being oppressed in monumental ways. Not since the days of Nero has the church been so maligned and misunderstood. It is imperative to understand that all of this was announced by the Lord Jesus Himself. In the midst of one of Jesus’s...

Straight From My Heart…

This past week-end I celebrated my birthday!  June 2 marked my 55th one of these and I am thankful for my friends around globe who shared kind words with me.  I was glad to have my family and a few close friends over for a wonderful cook-out and time of celebration. I was most surprised by the fact that our oldest daughter made an unexpected visit for the weekend.  She lives in Charleston, SC and she had told me that her work schedule was going to keep her in town for the weekend (she just started a new job) but...

Straight From My Heart…

I never cease to be awed by the wonderful ways God opens doors for ministry.  Often I am afraid that we fail to recognize the ways God is working around us.  We tend to think that all the bleakness of society is an indication that evil is triumphing over good -- that Satan is winning the battles of daily living.   While theologically I know that God is in complete control of all things, I too readily throw up my hands in despair and forget to remember that God is always at work around me. Such was certainly the case on...

Straight From My Heart…

Our just finished trip to Ghana was incredible!  God did so many wonderful things that space here is certainly insufficient to share it all.  However let me affirm that I know that our Heavenly Father is still in the business of drawing people unto Himself. On several days our team members, after completing our morning assignments in the schools, were placed in a bush taxi for our return ride to our field hotel.  On more than one occasion we were able to share the Gospel with the driver who, by the power of the Holy Spirit bowed and prayed for...
