Prayer for Sammy Lartey – Update from Ghana, Africa

Gabriel Lartey with Andy Poe So many of you continue to ask about the present situation with our National Director, Rev. Dr. Sammy Lartey, in Ghana. Here is a series of text messages he and I exchanged yesterday: Sammy: Dear Roy, thanks for asking loved ones to pray for me.Thanks also for asking Simon to be close to me. All is working out well. Rom 8:28.To God be the Glory for His prompt response to ur prayers that has brot back joy to my soul. 2nd COR.1:35. Continue in prayer for us. The battle is the...

Pray for Sammy Lartey

And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.  Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs,...

Always Looking Forward

[JFK Airport, New York] — James McLean and I had an uneventful overnight flight from Accra.  We landed this morning in New York at 4:45am and made it through the immigration process in record speed.  We are thankful to be back on home soil, yet at the same time our entire team has already expressed some sadness in leaving our dear brothers and sisters in Ghana.  Those dear friends are some of the dearest in my life.  I hope you will remember to join me in praying for them daily. These great servants of the Lord work in extreme circumstances...

Opportunities and Obligations: Listening to the Voice of God

[Accra - Ghana] I have received word that team members, Jeff Andler, Craig Barker, and Andy Poe have arrived safely in New York after a good (and uneventful) overnight flight from Accra.  Again, I am very thankful for the work and ministry of these dear brothers. The ministry opportunities have not ended for our team!  Last night after dinner, James and I were sitting on the balcony of the hotel lobby overlooking the swimming pool. (Yes, we are spoiled and this hotel in Accra does have a pool!) We were talking about the great opportunities God was giving each of...

We Are Headed Home!

[Accra - Ghana] The project is almost complete.  Our American team traveled back from Koforidua today to the capital city of Accra, Ghana. The past two weeks of ministry have been incredible, both in scope and opportunity.  Even though our Ghanian team will conduct 2 film crusades nightly though Sunday the initial reports are wonderful.  All in all we were able to present the Gospel to 33,877 people in 188 separate venues.  These included school assembly programs, film crusades, public forums, and hotel grounds.  It was amazing to witness the wonder working power of Jesus Christ in the lives of...

Blessings in the Midst of the Battle

[Koforidua- Ghana] Yesterday we received disturbing news from our national director, Rev. Sammy.  He informed us that sometime during the day he had been robbed of nearly $500, which is a great deal of money here.  Apparently someone entered the church where the team is staying and stole this money.  While there is no way to know exactly what happened — the result is the same.  Even given all the measures of security a thief simply slipped in and took this money.  Needless to say this put a great burden on all of us, but more importantly it reminded us...
