“One-A-Week Challenge” – Week 15

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” --Galatians 6:7 NIV When Paul says, “God cannot be mocked” he uses a word that literally means “to turn up your nose at.”  Few of us would readily admit that we have turned our nose up to God, but whenever we choose to reject His word that is exactly what we are doing. We are 15 weeks into our “One-A-Week Challenge” where we have been attempting to memorize a verse of scripture a week.  At the outset this seemed daunting, but as time has marched on I...

“One-A-Week Challenge” – Week 14

“For he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.” Psalm 107:9 NIV In 1965, The Rolling Stones released the song “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.” The song was about the vain attempts of finding satisfaction in the material world. True satisfaction in this regard is illusory. The problem is that most people view satisfaction as something that we can achieve. This erroneous idea places the emphasis on ourselves and our abilities. The world calls out to us with a plethora of things that it promises will bring satisfaction. These are empty promises. By contrast, the Word of...

“One-A-Week Challenge” – Week 13

“Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind." Psalm 107:8 NIV Cicero wrote, “Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.”[1]  Gratitude is the bedrock of our disposition in life.  Several years ago I was tasked with the responsibility of speaking to an influential group of business leaders about how to allow their faith to be a natural part of their business life.  While flying back from Africa as I was praying, reading, and thinking about what I was going to say to them, the...

“One-A-Week Challenge” – Week 12

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5 ESV Most of us do not want to viewed as “needy” and therefore we are afraid to ask for help.  Often we mistakenly think that asking is a sign of weakness.  In reality the willingness to ask is a sign of strength. The proud believe in self-sufficiency but this is the highest pinnacle of foolish vanity. Life is a series of tests and at time these can some times be frustrating.  My friend Jimmy...

Final March 2016 Ghana Update

Saturday in Accra [Accra, Ghana] The initial ground work of this project is now behind us.  Our Ghanaian pastors and leaders gathered on our hotel grounds in Sogakope this morning to bid us “safe travels” for our return to Accra and eventually home.  This is always a bitter sweet moment for all of us.  These are such precious servants of the Lord and we are grateful for their generous and gracious work in both the preparation and implementation of each of these projects. I would be remiss if I failed to mention, Sammy, Simon, Ebenezer, Jacob, Tetteh, Emmanuel, Delanyo, and...

Never Leave One Behind

Friday in Sogakope [Volta Region, Ghana]. During this project into the Volta Region of Ghana our team has worked in village school assembly programs, remote film crusades, and a 5-day dental clinic.  All-in-all we have stood face-to-face with over 31,000 individuals in 122 separate venues with 22,108 people indicating first-time decisions for Christ! Every person who prayed, gave, went, or came is able to share in this marvelous blessing of God. I hope you will pause and give praise to God for all He has accomplished here. Each team member has their own special stories to tell and I hope...
