What can we learn from the NFL Playoffs?
This past weekend I enjoyed watching the NFL playoffs on TV. Not every team I pulled for was victorious in their efforts on the field but a life lesson was reinforced.
“The best team does not always win, but the best prepared team rarely looses.”
I watched four games this past weekend and without a doubt the better coached teams …the best prepared teams ALL won their contests. It reminded me that life, like football, is not an individual sport. Just because a person is “the best” at something does not guarantee victory. That person, be it a quarterback, a wide receiver, or a defensive standout must have the right team around time and be surrendered to a good coach. The preparation for the game rests squarely on the shoulders of the coach.
We are all apart of a team in all we do. In our spiritual lives we must have people around us and a coach mentoring us who will love, teach, and join us on the journey of life. While it is important to have this network around us, we must NEVER forget that as Christians we have a Power within us which enables us to be all that God wants us to be. The Lord Jesus is both the Power. Person, and Presence of God who resides within all, who by faith have received the Grace of God which is salvation.
I hope that today we will spend time in God’s Word, listening to the Father for his game plan for our life. His Word is true and His Way is right. “Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding [but] in ALL your ways {submit] acknowledge Him, and He WILL make your paths straight.” (Prov. 3:5-6 emphasis mine.)
