Dodging the Demon of Depression

Depression is a terrible thing.  Some statistics reveal that as many as 2 in 10 people in the USA are taking medication for depression.  While that number seems high, it is no secret that much of society walks around with the marks of depression on them.

In today’s devotional thought from My Utmost for His Highest, Oswald Chambers wrote: “Dejection springs from one of two sources – I have either satisfied a lust or I have not. Lust means – I must have it at once. Spiritual lust makes me demand an answer from God, instead of seeking God Who gives the answer … Whenever the insistence is on the point that God answers prayer, we are off the track. The meaning of prayer is that we get hold of God, not of the answer.”

Maybe you are depressed today.  You don’t have to be.  I preached a message this past Sunday on this very topic.  Why don’t you take time to listen to this lesson from Psalm 13?  I think that you will be blessed by what God has to say to you on this subject.
