Rainy Days and Mondays…

The Carpenters sang, “Talking to myself and feeling old.  Sometimes I’d like to quit, nothing ever seems to fit, hanging around, nothing to do but frown, rainy days and Mondays always get me down.”  It seems obvious to us here that this duo must have never been to Ghana for a ministry project!  None of us feel old and none of us what to quit.

We have completed our Monday morning school ministries here in Ghana and we are all feeling humbled but stoked! Thus far through 3 days of ministry we have shared the Gospel in 25 separate ministry venues to an audience of over 4,000 individuals!  The good hand of God never ceases to overwhelm me.

Everything here seems to be moving ahead.  It is a rainy afternoon here in Africa with great ponds of water building all around us, but the Lord allowed us to complete the morning without disturbance.  Each school ministry had its own unique stories of individuals with questions and an eagerness to hear.

In one particular school after I had shared the Gospel and the simple truth that Jesus is the ONLY way to a relationship with the Heavenly Father (John 14:6) a teacher wanted to talk with me privately.  In his humble way he asked me about people of other religions (that is to say, Muslims) who believed in God, but do not know Jesus.  As we talked with him and reasoned with him from the scriptures his questions became longer and more pressing.  One of our colleagues him gave him his cell number and assured him that he would come back to answer more of his questions, but because of our schedule we had to leave him there.  Once back in our truck, moving to the next scheduled venue, our colleague quipped to me, “This man had big questions!” to which I responded, “No he had a simple question which requires a big answer.”

The truth is that every person, everywhere wants to know in their heart of hearts that they will be received by God in face of eternity.  The only guarantee of eternal life is in the person of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  All roads will lead to God (as judge) but there is only way road that will lead to salvation, and that is the Calvary Road.  I’m glad to know that over 3,000 souls thus far on this project have indicated a decision to trust Jesus!

On behalf of our entire team I want to express our gratitude for your continued prayers for this project and remember that THIS rainy Monday has done nothing to get us down!  By God’s grace we are off to a great start.
