One-by-one!

The remote locations of the villages are making our crowds smaller than many previous projects in Ghana.  Thus far (through Thursday noon) we have spoken to 64 different groups to an estimated crowd of 7,400 people.  “Thanks be to God for this wonderful opportunity.” The groups here are very attentive and responsive to the message of Jesus Christ.  We are learning that most of the population here are deeply immersed in traditional tribal worship -- which amounts to spiritism and the following of the “witch-doctors.”  Some however, have a connection to the Catholic religion because of the presence of a...

Broken Rovers and Taxi Rides Are Included

As I wrote yesterday, our Rovers have been experiencing some mechanical problems.  This is nothing at which to be alarmed ... it is all a part of God’s plan!  This truth was more fully realized today. After the makeshift repairs to the engine yesterday we were able to take the Rovers back into the bush today.  Although still pouring oil from a broken rubber hose on the engine, the leak has been temporarily slowed until a replacement part arrives today from Accra.  (The local mechanic actually used glue and tape to remedy the problem yesterday -- last night -- and...

The Battles Belong to the Lord!

1 Samuel 17:47 says “...the battle is the LORD’S.”  This is certainly an encouragement we need during these days in Africa! It is important to remember that Satan’s quiver of tricks is filled with various and diverse arrows -- each one designed to hinder or stop the proclamation of the Gospel. Our day started early with a journey again into the remote villages of this area on roads that are “less traveled.”  By the time Jeff Andler’s team arrived for their first assignment they realized a problem with one of our Land Rovers.  From all indications something had gone wrong...

God Directs Our Steps

The project is now in full swing.  The only venues we have had until today have been the evening film crusades and one women’s conference in a local church.  Now, starting on Monday and continuing for two weeks, we have several school assemblies each day.  This affords us the opportunity to share the Gospel with thousands and thousands of students and teachers.  In addition to these, we are scheduled to have two separate film crusades each evening. As of Monday afternoon, we have shared Jesus in 27 separate venues to over 3,800 individuals. While every individual is special, let me...

Sometimes, it’s really dark!

Not everyone is a believer!  Seems like a simple truth doesn’t it?  However, too many “christians” do not live our lives with this truth in mind.  We are often careless and disconnected with this reality.  I am convinced that we are missing many opportunities to share the love of the Lord Jesus with those around us. There is a great percentage of the world that is still wandering in darkness. One of the consistencies of being in West Africa is the inconsistency of the electric power grid. In the midst of heavy rain and wind storms yesterday the electricity in...

When the Blacktop Ends

This morning (Friday) our team set out for our appointed rounds to visit with the village chiefs in the areas of our upcoming projects.  Before visiting with even the first Chief we had to make the obligatory stop at the regional police station where we all introduced ourselves to the senior officer. After a pleasant visit in his office we were assured of his protection and security.  The man even gave us his mobile telephone number ... just in case. After leaving the station we began the journey to meet with the leaders in each of the communities where we...
