A Simple Adjustment Makes All the Difference!

Thursday in Sogakope [Sogakope, Ghana] The day began as every other.  Awake before sunrise, a cool shower, devotional and bible reading, then a hot cup of coffee before breakfast.  It’s the stuff of a traveler’s novel.  After breakfast our local hosts meet us at our hotel and we set out for a day filled with school assemblies and the sharing of the Gospel. This morning our dental clinic was set up immediately outside our hotel grounds.  Our pastors worked hard to get tents set up which would serve as both the waiting room and dental room of the day.  I...

Tuesday in Sogakope

[SOGAKOPE,GHANA] Tuesday has yielded a great morning of projects in the village schools. Although we all overslept this morning (it was great to get a full night of sleep) we were still able to have breakfast before 7 am and then hit the roads for our trips into the more remote parts of the Volta Region of Ghana. While our hotel is in Sogakope, the capital of the South Tongu District, our travels take us far beyond this city. As always the roads are difficult and the travel is hard. Today we have been blessed with complete cloud cover and...

Team Arrives In Ghana

[SOGAKOPE,GHANA] Our team all met at JFK on Sunday, 06 March to begin our trip back to Ghana. Our scheduled departure at 4:55pm was delayed nearly two hours will equipment and passenger issues. Luckily none of our team were the problems! After an uneventful 9-hour flight we arrived safely this morning around 8:00 am (local time.) The regular struggles with checked bags, airport security, and the other joys of travel into an African country took a bit more than an hour, but we did make it over to the hotel for breakfast/lunch then on to the supermarket for some items...

The “One-A-Week Challenge” Week 10

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 NIV What are you planning today? If you are like me, you spend some time each week or day planning what lies ahead. I get to my office each morning and glance at my day’s agenda and then set out to accomplish all that is there. It usually works pretty well because I have learned (most time) to, as Margaret Thatcher is credited with saying, “Plan your work for...

The “One-A-Week Challenge” Week 9“

“And My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 NKJV Most of us struggle with control.  One of the fundamental truths of life is this: God is in control — I am not.  While He may assign certain aspects of life, over which I have “charge” I am never in control. I do not want to be in control, because I am not able to handle the pressure of holding it all together. In last week’s verse Paul boldly proclaimed that He could do all things through Christ and this...

The “One-A-Week Challenge” Week 8

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 kjv If you are a parent, you will remember teaching your children to tie their shoes.  You worked and worked with them, but over and over you heard them say, “I can’t do it!” In the early stages of the process perhaps they did not possess the ability to finish the project, but as time progressed it was not so much their lack of knowledge as their lack of desire.  Also, they had gently learned that if they didn’t tie their shoes you would do it for them. ...
